Alfredo: A Delicious Recipe from the Timeless Italian Cuisine

There are some recipes that should always be in your kitchen, and fettuccine Alfredo is one of them. Alfredo sauce is one of the easiest and most delicious sauces to make. This homemade sauce is made with simple ingredients: butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic, heavy cream, and salt. Just five easy ingredients!

You can mix this sauce with the pasta so that the pasta absorbs all the sauce, or you can pour it over the pasta while it’s hot and fresh. If you want a more liquid fettuccine Alfredo, mix the sauce with less than a pound of pasta (you can use 12 ounces of fettuccine).

To start, heat a large pot of water until it comes to a boil. Add salt and a small amount of oil to the cooking water. Once the water is boiling, add the pasta and follow the package directions for cooking time.

Stir the garlic and butter together until they become soft, about 1 to 2 minutes.

Add the heavy cream and let it simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes, or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add half of the Parmesan cheese to the mixture and stir until smooth.

Reserve some of the pasta water. Pasta water has a wonderful flavor and can be used to thin the sauce.

Combine the Alfredo sauce with the fettuccine pasta. Add half of the Parmesan cheese to the sauce, and then sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Add a little pasta water if the sauce needs to be thinned.

Garnish with Italian parsley, if desired.
