The most widespread Arabic cuisine in the world

During your visit to European and American cities, you will see many restaurants and shops selling Arabic sandwiches and snacks. In Washington, Paris, and even Moscow and Beijing, they display with large, illuminated banners decorated with Arabic letters.

In major cities of the world, you will notice that the restaurants which serve Moroccan dishes and those that serve Levantine dishes from Syria and Lebanon are the most frequented, even by non-Arabs.

The assessment conducted by Wharton University of Pennsylvania, Y&R Research, and US News, the most influential countries in the world in terms of cultural heritage, reveals that Moroccan, Lebanese, and Tunisian cuisine topped the Arab list at a rank relatively distant from the rest of the Arab cuisines.

Morocco ranked first in the Arab world as the most influential country in the world through its unique and delicious Moroccan cuisine, with a score of 6.3 out of 10, which is considered one of the most diverse cuisines in the world, influenced by the many civilizations that have passed through the country, and Morocco’s geographical location has enhanced this diversity.

The country’s fertile climate and natural richness also contributed to diversifying the ingredients of Moroccan dishes, with rare and unique grains, fruits, spices, and herbs. In second place was Lebanon, with a score of 4.5 out of 10. It is considered part of Levantine cuisine, a unique mixture of ancient Mediterranean cuisine, Arabic cuisine, and Turkish cuisine. It features appetizer dishes known locally as mezze.

Thirdly, Tunisian cuisine came in third place, with a score of 2.8 out of 10. It is similar to Moroccan cuisine, with many of the same dishes. Its features have been shaped over the past centuries and what it is today is a unique mixture of Berber, Arabic, Turkish, French and Italian cuisine.

The main factor that makes any cuisine widespread in the world are expatriates, who carry their customs, traditions, dishes, music, and clothes with them to immigrants and foreign countries, east and west. Many of them open a restaurant or shop to sell dishes from the cuisine of their country of origin, first to earn money and spread their original culture second. This is clearly evident in countries with a large number of expatriates topping the Arab list of countries with the most influential and widespread cuisines in the world.
